Chris Hays, MS, CSCS

Director of S&C / Sports Performance

Chris comes to Top Athlete with 10 years of experience in the collegiate and professional sports world, including head roles at Jacksonville, Drexel and Coppin State in addition to assistant roles at Louisville, George Washington and within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. While he is from the Philadelphia area (Lansdale), Baltimore became his second home after a 4-year stint at Coppin from 2018-2022.

Prior to his team sport experience, Chris completed multiple internships at private facilities around the Philly, Pittsburgh and DC areas while completing his studies at Slippery Rock (BS, Exercise Science) and George Washington (MS, Strength & Conditioning). While at Slippery Rock, Chris participated on the basketball team (NCAA D-II) as a walk-on from 2012-2015.

While Chris has spent the most time working with men’s & women’s basketball, he has extensive experience with almost all other major sports. He’s been fortunate to receive mentorship from some of the industry’s most respected coaches, including Matthew Johnson, Teena Murray and Brian Stoneberg, amongst many others.

Chris’ passion for training began in the 7th grade, after missing his basketball season due to a lower back injury. From there, he worked closely with a local strength coach through high school that helped elevate his game while opening his eyes to the world of sports performance.

While focusing on the big pillars of performance enhancement and injury mitigation through a comprehensive training program, “C-Hays” will work closely with the Sports Performance team at Top Athlete, including Will Power PT, to build the best training system possible, with the goal of maximizing all athletes’ preparedness in the areas of nutrition, recovery, mental preparation and overall development.
